Once you have run an analysis you will be taken to the Impacts page. This page allows you to view and assess the impact of the chosen climate hazards on the selected assets.
The first data set presented is the BASE IMPACTS. These give you a quick snapshot of the cumulative risk and the customers disrupted over the project period.
You can choose various Graph Types to display the impacts, by selecting RISK COST (over time, by Elements, or by Hazards), FAILURE risk (over time, by Elements, or by Hazards) or KPIs.
You can display the results over a range of years zooming into the graph. Click and hold over the graph to zoom in on a certain year range.
The RISK COST graph shows the cost impact, derived from the risk to the asset from hazards and the value of the asset. Each hazard has its own series, hovering the cursor over the projection graph shows the data. The legend is interactive, enabling hazards to be turned on and off to re-scale the axis values. If you click the hazard labels the chart changes. The risk can be graphed over Time, by Elements, or by Hazards.
Viewing hazards over Time shows costs over the period of assessment.
Viewing hazards by Elements allows you to view the impacts of climate change on specific elements. In this graph, different colours represent different hazards.
There is also an option for viewing by Hazards, where different colours represent the different elements.
The Failure risk graph shows risk of failure for each asset, and can be viewed over Time, by Element, and by Hazards. The axis shows a failure probability. Each hazard has its own series and the cursor can be used to view data about specific data points.
The KPIs graph shows such events and the impact over time to these non-financial indicators. If the asset class doesn’t have any KPIs, none will appear.
The table at the bottom of the page allows you to view the impacts of the hazards on the individual assets. Use the drop-down list in the year column to select the year for which the results are displayed. This table displays the probability of the asset failing in the selected year due to each individual hazard assessed, the overall probability of the asset failing in the selected year, the failure risk, asset risk cost, and projected impacts on non-financial KPIs.
After reviewing these impacts, you will need to SAVE assets for adaptation planning. Next to each of the assets in the table there is a check box. Selecting this box will select the asset; by default there are no selected assets. You can select all assets or select and deselect assets individually.
Tip: Note the hazards that impact your selected assets, and the elements that they affect. This will inform your adaptation actions.
Once you have selected assets to consider for adaptation planning, click the SAVE button. This is the only way to save assets to a project. (Do not click on the SAVE button without selecting any assets.) Clicking the ‘Save Assets’ button will start a new analysis for these assets. Clicking on the button will open a new tab, allowing the user to view information about the scenario including an output of the raw data.
